Albien J. “Porky” Kos

Albien J. “Porky” Kos, 91, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Wednesday, August 8, 2018.

He was born to the late Frank and Frances (Zakrajsek) Kos in Rockingham, PA on December 8, 1926.

He is a veteran of the United States Army serving his country during World War II. On June 16, 1949, he married his wife of almost seventy years, Grace (Alvetro) Kos.

Albien worked in the Cramer mines for Greenwick in Indiana, PA. He retired from the coal industry after forty years. He was a member of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church located in Sykesville, PA. He was also a member of the F.O.E. Club in Sykesville and the American Legion Post #392.

Albien loved to go hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He loved watching baseball and football, always supporting his favorite Pittsburgh teams especially the Pirates. He enjoyed going to the casino. He was cared for by his loving nephew, Nick Alvetro and his wife Crystal.

Albien is survived by his beloved wife, Grace (Alvetro) Kos; one son, Mark A. (Vanessa) Kos; one brother, Joseph (Betty) Kos, of NY; one sister, Annabelle (Jim) Simbeck of DuBois, PA; one grandson, Clayton Kos; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents Albien is preceded in death by one daughter, Julia Ann Kos; four brothers, Stanley Kos, William Kos, Herman Kos, and Rudy Kos; and Jimmy Kos.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, August 11, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Snyder – d’Argy Funeral Home, 206 E Main St, Reynoldsville, PA 15851. A funeral service will take place on August 11, 2018, beginning at 3:00 p.m. and officiated by Father Bill Barron, also at the funeral home. Military honors will be performed by the DuBois Area Honor Guard following the service. Interment will take place at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Reynoldsville, PA 15851.
