Over 2,500 Child Sex Abuse Charges Filed Against Man in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) – State Police have filed 2,560 criminal charges against a 50-year-old man accused of sexually abusing two young girls in Jefferson County.

John Charles Defluri, of Montgomery, Pa., was taken into custody late Tuesday evening by State Police in Tioga County after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

The warrant was issued after Punxsutawney-based State Police Trooper Weaver filed the following charges against Defluri in Jefferson County District Court:

  • Rape of Child, (215 counts)
  • Statutory Sexual Assault, (215 counts)
  • Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse – PACC3123(a)(1), (200 counts)
  • Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse – PACC3123(a)(7), (200 counts)
  • Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse – PACC3123(b), (200 counts)
  • Aggravated Indecent Assault – PACC3125(a)(2), (215 counts)
  • Aggravated Indecent Assault – PACC3125(a)(7), (215 counts)
  • Indecent Assault, (275 counts)
  • Indecent Exposure, (275 counts)
  • Corruption of Minors, (275 counts)
  • Unlawful Contact with Minors, (275 counts)

The charges stem from the alleged sexual abuse of two known 14-year-old girls. The victims were between the ages of seven and twelve at the time of the alleged incidents.

The alleged abuse occurred on several occasions between January 2010 and December 2015, according to police.

The Pennsylvania State Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit and the U.S Marshals Fugitive Task Force assisted with Defluri’s apprehension.

Defluri was remanded to the Tioga County Prison pending extradition back to Jefferson County.
