CLARION CO., Pa. (EYT) – State police have filed charges against a Knox man stemming from a police standoff that occurred along State Route 208 on Wednesday.
According to court documents, the Clarion-based State Police filed criminal charges against 20-year-old Kenneth William Hannold, of Knox, in Magisterial District Judge Amy Long Turk’s office.
The charges stem from an incident that began around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, after state police received a report of a domestic incident at a residence near the intersection of Shettler Road and Route 208 in Beaver Township, Clarion County.
According to a criminal complaint, a female resident of the home was at work and stated that she was contacted by a family member who advised her that “Ken (Kenneth Hannold) was going crazy and threatened to shoot everyone in the house.”
Kenneth Hannold is a family member and a resident of the home.
The woman left work and drove to her residence where she made contact with five victims (four adults and a one-year-old child).
The woman told state police that she had not made contact with Kenneth Hannold, but “she was told by the occupants (of the house) that he threatened to shoot everyone.”
Hannold allegedly threatened to shoot a male resident of the home with a blowgun, smashed the television with a bat, and flushed the remote control down the toilet, the complaint states.
He also allegedly said that “he was going to the basement to get guns,” and that “if he heard any sirens, he would shoot everyone and that he was not afraid to get shot by the police,” the complaint indicates.
She stated that the occupants of the house told her that “he went to the basement with a knife and locked the door behind himself.”
All occupants of the residence secured themselves within the attached garage and were able to exit the residence safely, according to the complaint.
Kenneth Hannold remained in the basement of the residence while all occupants exited.
Numerous attempts were made to contact Hannold by phone with negative results.
A known woman was questioned on the confirmation of firearms within the house, and she advised that there is a gun cabinet in the basement and that there are numerous rifles and other guns inside. She said that Ken does have a key to the cabinet and does know how to use the guns, according to the complaint.
Hannold was arraigned at 7:30 p.m. on the following charges:
– Terroristic Threats W/ Int To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
– Harassment – Comm. Lewd, Threatening, Etc. Language, Misdemeanor 2
Unable to post $25,000.00 monetary bail, he was lodged in the Clarion County Jail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on March 12 with Judge Turk presiding.

Around 11:10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, Shippenville-Elk VFD and Knox VFD were dispatched to shut down Route 208 between Knox and Shippenville as a result of the incident, according to Clarion County 9-1-1.
Sources near the scene say at least a dozen law enforcement officers surrounded the home. Multiple members of the Pennsylvania State Police Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) were on the scene with rifles pointed toward the home.
The area directly surrounding the incident was on lockdown as nearby residents were told to stay inside their homes.
Route 208 was shut down for approximately 6.5 hours as a result of the incident.
