Brookville Man Accused of Stealing Vehicle


BROOKVILLE BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – A Brookville man is facing felony theft and related charges after allegedly stealing a car and other items from a woman in Brookville.

Court documents indicate the Brookville Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 21-year-old Jacob Keesecker of Brookville.

According to a criminal complaint, around 10:48 a.m. on Saturday, June 9, Officer Turnbull receive a call from Jefferson County Control to contact a known woman about a possibly stolen car.

The victim informed Officer Turnbull that between the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 6:45 a.m. her vehicle was taken without her permission. A cell phone and approximately $350.00 in cash were also taken.

The victim stated that she was staying at a friend’s house on Richards Street in Brookville along with Jacob David Keesecker. The victim reported that when she woke up in the morning, her ZTE Blade Spark phone had been taken along with various clothing. In addition, $350.00 in cash, her vehicle, and Keesecker were missing.

The victim reported that her keys were inside her purse, which was in her vehicle. She also stated that Keesecker was aware of where she left her keys, the complaint states.

Officer Turnbull contacted Keesecker’s former foster family and was given the same phone number for Keesecker that the victim gave for her phone.

Officer Turnbull called the phone number and left a message for Keesecker to call to talk about the vehicle incident.

Around 11:45 a.m., the victim provided a written statement including the PA registration number and vehicle identification number (VIN) for the vehicle. Officer Turnbull passed the information to Jefferson County Control to have the BOLO updated.

Around 1:20 p.m. the victim contacted Officer Turnbull and informed him that she had contact with a friend who had been in her vehicle with Keesecker driving. She reported that the friend told her the vehicle was in Reynoldsville on Willow Street.

Officer Turnbull relayed the location to Cpl. Borden of PSP DuBois.

Around 2:10 p.m., Officer Turnbull received a call from Cpl. Borden that Keesecker was in custody and had keys to the car in his right front cargo pocket. Cpl. Borden also informed Officer Turnbull that Keesecker had the victim’s cell phone in his right back pocket.

Based on the investigation, the following charges were filed on Tuesday, June 12, in Magisterial District Judge Gregory M Bazylak’s office:

– Unauthorized Use Motor/Other Vehicles, Misdemeanor 2
– Receiving Stolen Property, Felony 3
– Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Felony 3
– Receiving Stolen Property, Misdemeanor 2
– Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 2

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 10, with Judge Bazylak presiding.

Keesecker has a criminal history in Jefferson County, having previously served time for burglary and theft.
