Crews Respond to Liquid Latex Spill in Brookville

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — The driver of a tractor trailer from a Brooklyn-based company was cited after police discovered a substance leaking from the vehicle.

Brookville Borough Police was called to Truck Stops of America on Allegheny Boulevard early Tuesday evening for a report of an unknown white substance leaking from the vehicle’s trailer.

Officer Scheckler said the driver was not near the truck and called to have Brookville Volunteer Fire Company respond to the spill.

The driver, a 28-year-old man whose name was not released, later returned to the truck and his log revealed that the substance was liquid latex.

Jefferson County Emergency Management responded to the scene to provide further assistance.

It was determined the substance wasn’t toxic. Soaking pads were placed on the substance to absorb the spill.

A privately owned company was called to provide additional assistance.

The driver was cited for failing to secure the load.
