Brookville Raiders Poised To Repeat As District 9 Champions

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — The District 9 2A Wrestling Pairings for this weekend’s tournament at Clearfield Area High School have been released by Chairman Randy Cathcart.

The action begins at 4 p.m. Friday with the preliminary round, followed by the quarterfinals and two rounds of consolations.

Saturday, the semifinals begin at 10:30 a.m. with two rounds of consolations.

At 3:30 p.m., the Parade of Champions and District 9 Hall of Fame presentation will be done.

The finals and consolation finals begin at 4 p.m.

The top four finishers in each weight class qualify for the 2A Northwest Regional Tournament in Sharon March 3-4. A team trophy will also be awarded.

Tickets are $3 for students and $6 for adults. For all sessions, student tickets are $9 and adults $18.

Food, snacks and beverages will be available for purchase at the Clearfield Area High School cafeteria.

The Raiders are heavy favorites to crown the most champs as they have seven of their 14 grapplers seeded No. 1.

At 106 pounds, freshman Parker Fleming (14-15) is No. 8 and will face Coudersport’s Chris Davis.

At 113, senior Keelan Kunselman (24-10) is seeded first and will take on Cranberry freshman (6-11) River Perry in the quarters.

At 120, senior Gavin Park (32-3) is seeded first and will battle Oswayo Valley’s Patrick Rounsville in the prelim.

At 126, junior Kai Sorbin (23-10) is seeded first and will battle Redbank’s Brayden Altobelli in the quarters.

At 132, junior Dontae Constable (19-12) is seeded third and will face No. 6 Isaac Smoker of Port Allegany.

At 138, sophomore Jacob Cable (5-20) is unseeded and will battle Bradford’s Kyle Hartman in the prelim.

At 145, sophomore Bryce Walter (7-5) will go against Kane’s Alec English in the prelim.

At 152, junior Caleb Hetrick (33-3) is seeded first and will oppose Cranberry’s Zach Heugel in the prelim.

At 160, senior Clayton Peace (14-9) is seeded fourth. He will wrestle Bradford’s Derek Sunafranrk.

At 170, sophomore Braden MacBeth (3-8) is No. 7 and will face Oswayo Valley’s Nate Shroyer in the prelim.

At 182, senior Noah Cieleski (27-6) is seeded first and will face Sheffield’s Nolan Nudd in the prelim.

At 195, junior Xavier Molnar (30-6) is seeded first and will face Cranberry’s Ricky Schneider in the quarterfinals.

At 220, junior Tyler Cook (32-4) is seeded first and will face Redbank’s Colten Schreckengost in the prelim.

At 285, freshman Colby Whitehill (8-2) is seeded sixth and tackles Cameron County’s Timmy Hasselman in the prelim.
