Brookville School Taxes Going Up

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – The Brookville School Board this week passed a budget that includes a 3.3 percent increase in the real-estate tax, the maximum allowed by Pennsylvania law before a voter referendum is needed.

The increase works out to 0.9923 of a mill bringing the current millage rate in the district to 31.0638 mills, which comes out to $31.0638 for every 1,000.00 on the total amount of the assessed valuation of all taxable property.

The increase as well as the $26,220,752.00 budget passed by a 5-4 vote.

In addition to the real estate tax, the board also set the uniform occupation tax at 2,000 mills upon the occupational assessment of every resident or inhabitant of the district, an earned income tax of 1 percent, a real estate transfer tax of 1 percent, and a local service tax of $10.
