Burton D. Wheeler

Burton D. Wheeler, 84, of Byrnedale Road, Weedville, PA, died, unexpectedly, July 9, 2018, at UPMC Altoona.

A son of the late Henry and Mildred (Blankenbaker) Wheeler, he was born on November 11, 1933, in Byrnedale, PA. On November 28, 1958, he married Maxine L. (Wilson) who survives in Weedville.

Along with his wife, Burt is survived by three children, David Wheeler of Penfield, Edward (Dee) Wheeler of Penfield and Richard (Lori) Wheeler of Weedville; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Virginia McClintick of Penfield.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Murland, Clifford, and Charles Wheeler; five sisters, Viola Wonderly, Myra Kim, Thelma Jean Alsbaugh, Mildred Cassels and infant sister, Lottie.

Burt served in the US Army from 1953-’55. He retired from Airco Carbon after forty-two years and continued to work as a Bus Driver for the ATA for another eight years. He was a very active member of the Weedville Wesleyan Church, enjoyed gardening and lived all his life in Bennetts Valley.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Ralph M. Geer Funeral Home, Penfield, and also on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Weedville Wesleyan Church. Funeral services will follow the church visitation at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bryon Kleppinger.

Burial will take place in the Gardner Hill Cemetery.
