Clarion-Limestone (C-L) earned first place in the KSAC with 72.5 team points. The Lions won or shared victory in six of the nine events played, twice stringing together three-match win streaks. Their first came in the week spanning August 23-August 30, with victories at Clarion Oaks, Cross Creek Resort, and Hunters Station Golf Course. They then closed out the last week of the season (Sept. 13-Sept. 20) with another three in a row, taking or sharing honors at Hi-Level Golf Course, Foxburg Country Club, and Lake Arthur.

Clarion, second with 68.0 points, was runner-up in five of the first eight matches and third in two others before finally breaking through and sharing a first-place finish with C-L at Lake Arthur.

Moniteau concluded the season in third, a point behind the Bobcats. The Warriors won the season-opening match at Foxburg Country Club (August 22). At one point they took two events in a row, sharing first place with Forest Area at the second Clarion Oaks mega-match (Sept. 4) and then winning outright at Wanango Country Club (Sept. 11). The team finished second at three other events.

Forest Area was fourth in the conference, earning 60.5 points. The Fires shared victory with Moniteau at Clarion Oaks and finished third in five other matches.

Karns City (33.0 points) rounded out the top five, earning at least fifth at five events.

Hayden Siegel of C-L was the top-ranked golfer in the KSAC for 2018 with a scoring average of 40.89. He won four of nine events, earning medalist honors at Cross Creek (August 28) before going on a tear and claiming victory at three of the final four events. This run included victories at Wanango, Hi-Level (Sept. 13), and Lake Arthur, with the only blemish a third at Foxburg (Sept. 18). Siegel took second at the August season opener in Foxburg and tied for second at Hunters Station. He was one of only two golfers to finish in the top 10 at all nine mega-matches.

Siegel’s teammate, Ian Callen, was in second with a 43.00 average and also finished in the top ten at all events. He claimed victory at the second Foxburg match and never finished out of the top five until the final event of the season (where he was 10th). Callen was second at Cross Creek (August 28) and Hi-Level while claiming third at the first Clarion Oaks mega-match (August 23).

Josh Craig of Clarion posted a 43.44 average, good enough for third overall. He had seven top 10 finishes, including a win at the season-opening mega-match at Foxburg and seconds at Cross Creek, Wanango, and Lake Arthur. Craig also had a third at the first Clarion Oaks mega-match.

Moniteau’s Ethan McDeavitt finished with a 43.67. He had six top-five finishes. His best placings were seconds at the September Clarion Oaks event and at Hi-Level. McDeavitt tied for third at both the first Foxburg mega-match and at Wanango. He only finished outside the top 10 once.

Hayden Callen was the third C-L golfer in the top five, putting up a 44.22 average. Callen posted six top 10s, including a tie for first at the first Clarion Oaks mega-match and collecting a solo win at Hunters Station. He earned thirds at Cross Creek and Lake Arthur, as well as a tie for fifth at Hi-Level.

McDeavitt’s Warrior teammate, Nate Tack, posted a 44.25 to conclude the season in sixth. Tack tied for fourth three times; at Cross Creek, the second event at Clarion Oaks, and at Foxburg in September. He tied for fifth at the first Foxburg mega-match and at Hi-Level. Tack did not finish outside the top ten at any event until the final match of the season.

C-L’s Kaden Park ended up in seventh with a 45.56. Park finished in the top ten five times, winning the second event at Clarion Oaks and taking second at the September Foxburg match. His other two top fives were a tie for fourth at Cross Creek and a fourth at Hi-Level.

Bobcat golfer Jackson Fox’s 45.78 put him in eight. Fox was in the top 10 seven times, claiming a tie for first at Clarion Oaks in August. He tied for third at Wanango and tied fourth at both Hunters Station and the September Foxburg event.

Lake Staub was right behind his Clarion teammate with a 46.00. Like Fox, Staub also had seven top 10s. He tied for fourth three times, including at both Clarion Oaks matches and in the season-ender at Lake Arthur. Staub also tied for fifth at Hi-Level.

Forest Area’s Zyler Hargenrader put up a 47.56 to round out the season’s top 10. He had three top 10 finishes, including a tie for fourth at the second Clarion Oaks match and a tie for fifth at Wanango.

All KSAC golfers in the season’s top 10 qualified for the District 9 tournament beginning Monday, Sept. 24 at Brookville’s Pinecrest Country Club.
