According to a criminal complaint, around 11:10 a.m. on December 20, 2018, Chief Troy Bell met with a known man at the Reynoldsville Laundromat on East Main Street in Reynoldsville to review footage on the camera system of a theft that occurred on December 19, 2018, around 5:08 a.m.

Chief Bell viewed the footage of the inside of the laundromat. According to the complaint, the footage showed three unknown individuals, later identified as Zachary Loomis, Derek Kuntz, and Brittany Gibson, inside the laundromat.

The footage showed that while using the washing machines and dryers within the laundromat, Loomis took a blanket to the back where the vacuum was located in the corner. Loomis is seen in the footage at 5:08 a.m. wrapping the vacuum in a blanket. Loomis then carried the vacuum through the laundromat outside where he places it in the backseat of a parked car. Loomis then returned inside the laundromat meeting with the Kuntz and Gibson. At 5:13 a.m. all three individuals left the laundromat got in the vehicle with the vacuum cleaner, parked to the rear of the laundromat.

The complaint notes the vehicle appeared to be the vehicle that Loomis is known to operate, a red Ford sedan.

After collecting the video footage, Chief Bell advised Sgt. Murray of the theft and provided her with the video footage. On December 31, 2018, Sgt. Murray called and stated that she had recovered the vacuum cleaner.

According to the complaint, Sgt. Murray reported that while investigating another theft, she had the opportunity to meet Zachary Loomis. During the investigation of the unrelated theft involving Kuntz and Gibson, the vacuum cleaner was recovered.

According to the complaint, Loomis admitted to taking the vacuum cleaner from the laundromat.

According to court documents the following charges against Zachary D. Loomis, 28, of DuBois, were waived for court on February 27:

  • Theft By Unlaw Taking-Movable Prop, Misdemeanor 2
  • Receiving Stolen Property, Misdemeanor 2

The charges were transferred to the Jefferson County Court of Common Pleas.
