Court Hearing Set for Sykesville Man Accused of Child Sex Abuse

REYNOLDSVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – A Sykesville man is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, September 30, on charges that he sexually abused a young girl multiple times over the span of five years.

According to court documents, 35-year-old Gerald Albert Overbeck, Sr., of Sykesville, faces the following charges:

• Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse Person Less Than 16 Years of Age, Felony 1
• Involutary Deviate Sexual Intercourse w/ Child, Felony 1
• Criminal Attempt – Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse w/ Child, Felony 1
• Indecent Assault Person Less than 13 Years of Age, Misdemeanor 1 (2 counts)
• Indecent Assault Person Less 16 Years of Age, Misdemeanor 2 (2 counts)

Overbeck’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27, in District Judge David Inzana’s office.

Unable to post $50,000.00 monetary bail, he remains in the Jefferson County Jail.

According to a criminal complaint filed on July 24, Overbeck allegedly had oral sex and other sexual contact with a juvenile female.

During a July 5, 2017 interview at Western PA CARES for Kids, the victim told investigators that the abuse occurred on multiple occasions starting when she was seven and continuing until she was 12.

The victim indicated that Overbeck had sexual contact with her on four occasions.

Trooper Strishock interviewed Overbeck at the DuBois State Police barracks on July 20.

Although he initially denied having sexual contact with the victim, he later allegedly admitted to having oral sex with her, according to the complaint.
