Curve Drops Third Straight in Akron

AKRON, Ohio – The Altoona Curve fell for the third straight game with a 4-2 loss against the Akron RubberDucks on Wednesday night at Canal Park.

The Curve (6-5) led by a run heading into the bottom of the seventh before a rally by the RubberDucks (6-5).

Connor Marabell slugged a two-run homer against Logan Sendelbach (Loss, 1-1) in the bottom of the seventh to give Akron a 3-2 lead.

Altoona starter J.T. Brubaker worked six innings and allowed one run on four hits with one walk and eight strikeouts in a no-decision.

The Curve jumped ahead 2-1 in the top of the seventh on an RBI single by Christian Kelley but run into two outs on the bases in the inning.

Wyatt Mathisen opened the scoring in the second inning with an RBI single, but Akron answered in the bottom of the frame with a run-scoring single by Dorssys Paulino.

Akron added an insurance run in the eighth with a sacrifice fly by Mark Mathias. Reliever Leandro Linares (Win, 2-1) worked through 1.1 scoreless innings and Luke Eubank (Save, 1) pitched a 1-2-3 ninth.

The Curve will look to avoid the four-game sweep on Thursday night against the RubberDucks. Right-hander Dario Agrazal (1-0, 1.64) will start on the mound for Altoona, with right-hander Michael Peoples (0-1, 2.45) working for Akron. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at Canal Park.
