The Curve (40-35) have dropped the first three games of the series to the Baysox (39-39) and five of their last seven overall.

With the Curve leading 3-1 entering the eighth, the Baysox rallied with five runs against Tate Scioneaux (Loss, 5-3). Audrey Perez and Erick Salcedo opened the innings with singles. Attempting to move the runners over with a sacrifice bunt, Cedric Mullins reached on an error to load the bases with no outs.

Scioneaux struck out Marin for the first out, but Austin Hays followed with an RBI single to pull the Baysox within a run.

With one out and the bases still loaded, Garabez Rosa grounded into a 3-6 fielder’s choice as the Curve attempted to turn a double play, scoring Mullins to tie the game.

D.J. Stewart put the Baysox in front with a two-out RBI single, chasing Scioneaux from the game. He was replaced by Jared Lakind, who gave up a two-run single to Mike Yastrzemski to extend the lead to 6-3.

The Curve got a double from Jerrick Suiter to open the ninth, but Jefri Hernandez (Save, 2) picked up the final three outs to close out the game.

Curve starter Austin Coley worked seven innings and allowed one run on four hits with no walks and four strikeouts, tying his longest outing of the season. Coley has still not picked up a win as a starting pitcher in 2017.

Kevin Newman hit a solo home run in the first inning on the second pitch of the game from Matthew Grimes, his third of the season, to get the curve on the board.

Wyatt Mathisen doubled the Curve lead with a solo home run in the fourth, his fourth homer of the year.

In the fifth, Jordan Luplow legged out two-out infield single, scoring Pablo Reyes and extending the Curve lead to 3-0.

Bowie broke onto the scoreboard in the fifth with an RBI single by Salcedo.

Scioneaux pitched 0.2 innings and allowed five runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk with one strikeout.

Bowie starter Matthew Grimes pitched six innings and allowed three runs on five hits. Jason Garcia (Win, 4-2) worked the seventh and eighth innings without giving up a run.

Mathisen finished the game 2-for-4. Suiter reached base twice, going 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.

The Curve look to avoid a four-game sweep with the series finale on Thursday morning. Right-hander Tanner Anderson (6-6, 3.79) will be on the mound for the Curve, opposed by Bowie right-hander Jesus Liranzo (1-3, 5.40). First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie, Md.
