Details Released on Juvenile Taken to Punxsy Hospital in Accidental Shooting Incident

MAHAFFEY, Pa. (EYT) — Police say one juvenile accidentally shot another with a pellet gun on Sunday, May 21, in Mahaffey, Clearfield County.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, troopers responded to Punxsutawney Area Hospital around 5:59 p.m. on Sunday for an accidental shooting involving two juveniles.

Both juveniles were playing with pellet guns at a residence on East Main Street in Mahafey. One gun inadvertently discharged, striking a juvenile male in the right armpit area around 5:30 p.m. on May 21. The pellet became lodged beneath the skin, and he was taken to Punxsutawney Area Hospital where medical staff removed the pellet, police say.

No serious injuries were reported.
