Details Released: Woman Seriously Injured in Route 36 Drilling Rig vs. Car Crash

YOUNG TWP., Pa. (EYT) – State Police in Punxsutawney have released the details of a Monday afternoon crash in Young Township that left one woman seriously injured.

According to police, around 3:58 p.m. on Monday, October 8, Stacie L. Carr, 47, of Falls Creek, was operating a 2016 Ford Fusion, traveling south on State Route 36, while Robert E. Beer, 53, of Mayport was operating a 2009 Mack Granite truck, traveling north on State Route 36.

Police say Carr attempted to make a left-hand turn into a parking lot just north of Lewis Farm Lane without yielding the right-of-way to Beer, who was approaching from the opposite direction. Carr’s vehicle crossed over the double yellow line into oncoming traffic and was struck by Beer’s vehicle.

Carr was not wearing a seatbelt. She suffered serious injuries and was transported to Punxsutawney Area Hospital by Jefferson County EMS, then flown to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh by LifeFlight.

Despite the severity of her injuries, she is expected to survive.

Beer was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

Carr’s vehicle was towed from the scene by Rebuck’s Southside Service and Towing and Beer’s vehicle was towed from the scene by Big Dog Towing Service.

Punxsutawney Fire Department responded and assisted in extricating Carr from her vehicle as well as with traffic control.

The portion of State Route 36 where the crash occurred was temporarily closed and traffic was detoured for approximately four hours while Pennsylvania State Police members from the Forensic Services Unit, the CARS Unit (Accident Reconstruction), and the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Division) assisted at the scene.
