Frank A. Mondi Sr.

Frank A. Mondi Sr., 85, of Walston, PA, died Saturday, October 6, 2018, at Christ the King Manor in Dubois, PA.

He was born March 25, 1933, in Punxsutawney, PA, son of the late Rose (Adams) and Anthony Mondi. On November 24, 1956, he married June Fern Jones who passed away March 25, 1998.

He was a 1951 graduate of Punxsutawney Area High School.

Frank was a veteran of the Korean War in which he served in the U.S. Army.

Frank retired after fifty years as caretaker of Circle Hill Cemetery in Punxsutawney. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church in Walston, PA and FO Eagles in Punxsutawney. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, gardening, and painting cars.

Frank is survived by his children, his daughter Ronda (Craig) Clark of Punxsutawney, his two sons Frank (Julie) Mondi of Punxsutawney and Douglas of Walston. His grandchildren Heather (Geoff) Peterson of Lake Ranch, FL., Christopher (Michelle) Mondi of Punxsutawney, John Mondi of Long Beach, CA. and Dave (Emily) Clark of Rochester Mills, PA. In addition, he is survived by his great-grandchildren Jeremiah and Noble Mondi of Punxsutawney, Avery and Livia Peterson of Lake Ranch, FL. and Eloise and baby boy Clark (December 2018) of Rochester Mills, PA.

He also is survived by his sister Connie Ross of Punxsutawney, and his brother Thomas (Jan) Mondi of Apollo, PA in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son John Mondi and by his sister Ursula Albino and brothers in law Donald Ross and Joseph Albino.

Frank will be sadly missed by his family and friends. There will be a public viewing and visitation on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at the Richard L. Fait Funeral Home, 117 N. Jefferson St. Punxy. from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at SS Cosmas and Damian Roman Catholic Church, Punxsutawney at 11:00 a.m. with Monsignor Joseph Riccardo officiating. Mass will be followed by interment in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorial gifts be made to St. Vincent DePaul at SSCD in Punxsutawney, PA, DuBois Central Catholic School of Dubois, PA or Lisa Ladybugs in Punxsutawney, PA.
