Frederick C. “Fred” Frantz

Frederick C. “Fred” Frantz, 84, of Ace Valley Road, DuBois, PA, died on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on December 14, 1933, in Clearfield, PA, he was the son of the late Arthur L. and Kathryn (Utzinger) Frantz.

He was a veteran of the United States Army having served as a mechanic instructor in the Korean War.

On November 20, 1954, he married Betty M. Bennett Frantz. She survives.

Fred retired as head custodian of the DuBois Area High School in 1997. Prior to that, he was the head of the maintenance department for 25 years at Delaney Brothers.

He was a member of the Susquehanna Antique Machinery Association and the Nittany Antique Machinery Association. As a machinist, he enjoyed making scale model antique engines. Fred enjoyed showing his steam engine “Little Puff” for years and he also loved his “putzu” Laci.

Fred is survived by three children, Frederick C. Frantz, Jr. and his wife Denise of DuBois, PA, Alan John Frantz and his wife Sandy of Geneva, FL, and Barbara Ann Bundy and her husband Joel of DuBois, PA; two brothers, C. Leroy Frantz of Rochester, NY, and Larry Frantz of Grampian, PA; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his great uncle, Bernard Utzinger.

There will be no public visitation.

A private graveside service will be held at the Troutville Trinity United Church of Christ Cemetery with Pastor Sarah Sedgwick officiating.

Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the cemetery.

The Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc is in charge of the arrangements.
