Friday’s High School Baseball Roundup: Clarion Edges Brookville in Nine Innings

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (D9Sports) – Kyle Patterson’s one-out double to left scored Reed Anthony from third with one out in the top of the ninth to give Clarion a 2-1 win over Brookville.

Anthony started the inning with a double and was sacrificed to third.

Those doubles were the only extra-base hits of the game for the Bobcats and it was Anthony’s second hit of the game. He finished 2-for-4. Skylar Rhoades had Clarion’s other RBI.

Tanner LaBenne led Brookville going 2-for-4 with a run scored. He was driven in by Ben Reitz.

Ryan Anthony got the win in relief for Clarion pitching five scoreless innings. He gave up three hits while striking out five. Cam Craig went the first four innings allowing one unearned run on one hit and five walks while striking out two.

Brady Caylor took the loss pitching one inning and allowing the two hits and one run.

Bryan Dworek tossed a gem going eight innings allowing one run on three hits and three walks while striking out two.

ELK COUNTY CATHOLIC 8, BROCKWAY 7

ST. MARYS, Pa. – Elk County Catholic built a 7-0 lead at the end of an inning and then held on for an 8-7 win over visiting Brockway.

Brad Dippold, Eric Gerber and Jordan Nasoni each had a pair of RBIs for the Crusaders with Dippold and Gerber each picking up two hits including a double by Dippold.

Andrew Trunzo was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs for Brockway. Cameron Baka also drove in a pair of runs for the Rovers.

Dippold got the win in relief going 1 ⅔ innings allowing two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out one.

Baka suffered the loss lasting a ⅓ of an inning and allowing seven unearned runs on three hits and two walks.

DUBOIS 10, CURWENSVILLE 0, 5 INNINGS

DUBOIS, Pa. – Garret Prosper and Tyler McIntosh each had two RBIs, and Jack Frank and Anthony Kness combined on a one-hit shutout, as DuBois Central Catholic dispatched visiting Curwensville, 10-0 in five innings.

Prosper was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, while McIntosh was 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored. Also for the Cardinals, Michael Misiewicz had a pair of hits, including a double, as did Brandon Walker. Misiewicz scored once and Walker twice.

Frank got the win going three innings allowing no hits while walking one and striking out three. Kness finished the final two innings allowing one hit while striking out two.

Austin Butlin had Curwensville’s lone hit.
