Friday’s High School Softball Roundup: Lingenfelter K’s 18 as Punxsutawney Rolls Past ECC


ST. MARYS, Pa. (D9Sports) – Kylee Lingenfelter struck out 18 of the 25 batters she faced to lead visiting Punxsutawney to a 10-1 win over Elk County Catholic.

Lingenfelter went seven innings allowing one run on two hits and two walks.

She helped herself with a double on offense, while Toya Jones and Sara Weaver both had doubles and singles and two RBIs and Grace Aikens hit a home run and drove in two. Abby Gigliotti added a pair of hits, including a double.

DUBOIS CENTRAL CATHOLIC 12, CAMERON COUNTY 1, 5 INNINGS

EMPORIUM, Pa. – Freshman Chelsea Busatto smacked a pair of home runs while going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored to lead visiting DuBois Central Catholic to a 12-1, five-inning win over Cameron County.

Ashley Wruble added a 4-for-4 day with three doubles, two RBIs, three runs scored and two stolen bases, while Mia Meholick was 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, a walk, a run scored and four RBIs.

Wruble got the win going five innings allowing one earned run on three hits and a walk while striking out seven.

Allyson Narby drove in Ashlea Burgett for the lone Cameron County run.

Laila Smith took the loss allowing 12 runs, seven earned, on 17 hits and a walk while striking out four in five innings.

REDBANK VALLEY 25, BROCKWAY 0, 4 INNINGS

BROCKWAY, Pa. – Using a nine-run first and a 12-run fourth visiting Redbank Valley rolled to a 25-0, four-inning win at Brockway.

Dakota Hetrick went 4-for-5 with a triple, four runs scored and two RBIs to lead the Lady Bulldogs offense with Torilynn Nelson, Kristen Shaffer and Torrie Sayers each adding doubles.

Shaffer was 3-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs, Nelson was 1-for-2 with two walks and three runs scored and Sayers 1-for-1 with a run scored and two RBIs.

Also for Redbank Valley Brooke Holben went 1-for-3 with a walk, three runs scored and two RBIs. Sami Leasure was 2-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and three runs scored with Brynn Rearick going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs, Elaina Miller 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, Lauren Smith was 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored and Kaia Rearick 2-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and three runs scored.

Hetrick got the win allowing two hits and no walks while striking out two.

MARION CENTER 7, BROOKVILLE 4

MARION CENTER, Pa. – Torri Ashbaugh went 3-for-4 with a run scored to help Marion Center knock off visiting Brookville, 7-4.

Morgan Straw added a homer and two RBIs for the Lady Stingers.

Kass Roush got the win allowing two earned runs in five innings. She walked three and struck out 11.

Aleah Ames had a double and a run scored for Brookville, while Leah Kammerdeiner had a double and two RBIs, Lauren Hergert a single and a run scored and Megrah Suhan a single and an RBI.

Abby Sunealitis took the loss going six innings allowing seven runs, six earned. She walked six and struck out two.

DUBOIS 12, HOLLIDAYSBURG 5

DUBOIS, Pa. – Kylee Bundy was 4-for-4 with a pair of inside-the-park home runs and six RBIs to lead DuBois to a 12-5 win over visiting Hollidaysburg.

Molly Nosker got the win in the circle for the Lady Beavers.

FOREST AREA 10, UNION 3

RIMERSBURG, Pa. – Jasmine Ginnery drove in three runs to help visiting Forest Area to a 10-3 win over Union at Rimersburg Elementary School.

Jasmine Ginnery also got the win allowing three unearned runs. She walked one and struck out 13.

Destiny Ginnery added a 2-for-4 day with a double and an RBI, Makiya Bellotti was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs and Cassie Cochran was 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Lady Fires.

Morgan Cumberland had a double for Union.
