Harbor Freight Opens in DuBois

DuBOIS, Pa. (EYT) — Harbor Freight in DuBois is off and running.

The discount tool and equipment retail store, located in Sandy Township at the intersection of East DuBois Avenue and Midway Drive, opened at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

Even at 3 p.m., the parking lot was nearly full and customers were busy going in and out of the 15,000-square foot store.

Store manager Keith Prettyman was very pleased with the opening-day reception.

“It’s been outstanding,” Prettyman said. “We believe it be a very good location, people won’t have to drive to Altoona or Butler and it’s a convenience for them to be able to come to the store. We expect many customers from the north and west of here.

“There is a lot of room for opportunity and growth.”

Prettyman said that Harbor Freight opens three new stores every day.

It began as a small family-owned business in 1977.

It offers hand tools and generators, air and power tools, shop equipment, automotive tools, welding tools, lawn and garden and even pet supplies.

Prettyman said Harbor Freight wants to serve the smaller communities and that they have some community-specific programs, including disaster relief for its employees and Tools for Schools, a program where vocational schools can receive donated tools.

Harbor Freight has more than 650 stores, including Altoona and Johnstown.
