Jefferson County Crash Sends Two Women to Hospital

police-carBELL TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Two Jefferson County women were taken to the hospital for injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash Thursday on Route 36 in Bell Township.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, Patricia Matthews, 64, of Punxsutawney, was driving a 2014 Toyota RAV4 north on Route 36 and became distracted while attempting to make a left turn onto Elderberry Hill Road.

The RAV4 hit a 2011 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Morgan Holeva, 22, of Punxsutawney, then skidded and rolled over before hitting a utility pole and landing on its roof.

Jefferson County EMS assisted at the scene and took both drivers to Punxsutawney Hospital for what was described as minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts.

Matthews was cited for careless driving.

Also, Lindsey, Central, and Elk Run Volunteer Fire Departments assisted at the scene.

The Jeep Wrangler had disabling damage to the left rear of it and was towed from the scene by Brosius Towing.

The RAV4 was towed by Walker’s Towing.
