Interstate 80 Rest Areas in Jefferson County to Close November 30 for Renovations

JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that both Jefferson County rest areas, located on Interstate 80 East at mile marker 87.4 and West at mile marker 88.5, will close Thursday, November 30, for approximately two months while the facilities undergo renovations.

The $172,000.00 project includes interior restroom renovations and an upgraded water filtration system at both sites. The project is scheduled to take approximately two months to complete and the facilities are expected to be opening in February of 2018.

While the renovations are underway, the facility will be closed to public access. Motorists may choose Exits 78 (Route 36) Brookville and 97 (Route 219) off Interstate 80, as alternative locations for restrooms, food, gas and other amenities.
