Linda Ann Geyer Galmish

Linda-GalmishLinda Ann Geyer Galmish, 64, of 124 Skyline Drive, Kersey, passed away Friday, April 21, 2017, at her home, six years after being diagnosed with cancer and a brave struggle to make her last years positive and productive.

She was born September 25, 1952, the third daughter of the late Leo and Stella Spangler Geyer of Kersey. She attended St. Boniface School and graduated from St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1970.

On June 25, 1970, Linda married her high school sweetheart, Dennis Paul Galmish. They were married for 40 years and enjoyed spending time together and with family, especially at their camp in Penfield that the family built together. Denny died unexpectedly of a heart attack on March 5, 2011 after taking Linda to her first chemo treatment.

Linda’s survivors include her three children, Tracy (Michael) Tyger of Kersey, Cynthia (Robert) Jaconski of Treasure Lake, and Leo “Joe” Galmish of Kersey; and six grandchildren, Branden, Alexx, Stephanie and Jeweleea Tyger, Cody Jaconski, and Ethan Galmish. She is also survived by her sisters, Ellen Taylor of Northumberland, PA and Mary Malone of St. Marys; three aunts, Anna Rahm of Wyandotte, MI, Gert Geyer of St. Marys, and Kathleen Stahl of Tonawanda, NY; and by many nieces and nephews.

Linda was preceded in death by a son, Edward, at birth; her beloved husband, Denny; her parents, Leo and Stella Geyer; and by a nephew, Jared Taylor.

Linda had worked at Airco Speer, Elco Sintered Alloys, GKN, Rebco, and Elk Haven Nursing Home. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, embroidery, and baking – all of which she shared. She donated her handcrafts to various fundraisers – the Humane Society, St. Boniface, Fox Lioness, Fox Township Elementary School, Guardian Angels Center, and Chinese auctions. Her American Girl doll clothes were beautifully made and popular donations at many craft and fundraising events.

Linda’s talent in baking included beautiful wedding cakes for her daughters and many nieces and nephews, hundreds of cookies for family, friends, and fundraisers. She was known for her quality tasty treats as well as for their variety and ingenuity. She enjoyed sharing her talents and volunteered her time and eventually limited energy whenever asked during her illness. Her sense of humor and courage continued to bolster those around her.

There will be no visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 9:00 AM, with the Rev. Ross Miceli, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Cemetery.
