Louis Vincent Murdock

Louis Vincent Murdock, 94 of Punxsutawney, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Jefferson Manor in Brookville.

Louie was born July 18, 1923, in Sykesville, a son of the late Vincent and Mary (Morrell) Murdock.

He was a WWII veteran of the US Army.

He was a member of Ss. Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church.

He was the owner of the Former Murdocks Bar & Grill in Punxsutawney for over 40 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Punxsutawney Country Club, Lindsey Volunteer Fire Company, Punxsutawney Eagles, Walston Club, ELKS, VFW and the MOOSE in Punxsutawney.

Over the years he sponsored many bowling and softball teams.

Louis is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Margaret E. (Zydiak) Murdock of Punxsutawney, one son; James L. Murdock and wife Patricia of Punxsutawney, two daughters; Connie M. Hoffman and husband Michael of Roswell, GA., and Diane M. Murdock and partner Elizabeth Evans of Lakeview, AL.

Five grandchildren; Ryan, Nicole and Adam Murdock, Christine Kohler, Kimberly Carter and husband Chris.

Two great-grandchildren; Karlie and Kaitlyn Kohler and many nieces and nephews.

He was the last surviving member of his family having been preceded in death by three brothers; Jerome, Bill and Joseph Murdock and three sisters; Mary Angeletti, Agnes Muth and Jeanie Swann.

Friends will be received from 2-8 pm, Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at the McCabe Funeral Home in Punxsutawney.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 am, Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Ss. Cosmas & Damian Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Joseph Riccardo as Celebrant.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
