REYNOLDSVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – A 23-year-old man is facing DUI, child endangerment, and related charges in relation to a crash that occurred in Reynoldsville last month.
Court documents indicate the Reynoldsville Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 23-year-old Alexander John Engle of Petrolia.
According to a criminal complaint, on October 8, Sgt. Murray of the Reynoldsville Borough Police Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on West Main Street in Reynoldsville Borough.
Sgt. Murray arrived at the scene and observed a black car resting on its driver’s side in the eastbound lane facing west. The three occupants of the vehicle were outside of the vehicle, sitting on the side of the hill.
According to the complaint, the driver, Alexander Engle, said he came into the turn “hot” and lost control of the vehicle, a black Honda Civic. Engle said the vehicle went up the embankment, hit “something” and then rolled.
The complaint notes that when Sgt. Murray asked Engle if he was under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, Engle admitted that he smoked marijuana earlier in the day and said he had a pipe and grinder in the vehicle inside his bag.
Sgt. Murray found the pipe and grinder in a black bag inside the vehicle. Sgt. Murray also discovered that Engle did not have a drivers license.
Engle, who the complaint notes had lacerations to his face, was transported to Penn Highlands DuBois by ambulance and was later transported by helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian.
The front seat passenger, a known 18-year-old male, was flown from the scene to Altoona.
The rear passenger, a 15-year-old minor child, was transported to Penn Highlands DuBois via ambulance.
Engle consented to a legal blood draw at Penn Highlands DuBois. A lab report later showed a positive reading for the presence of marijuana.
The following charges were filed on Thursday, November 8, in Magisterial District Judge David B. Inzana’s office:

- DUI: Controlled Substance – Metabolite – 1st Offense, Misdemeanor 1
- DUI: Controlled Substance – Impaired Ability – 1st Offense, Misdemeanor 1
- Endangering Welfare of Children – Parent/Guardian/Other Commits Offense, Misdemeanor 1
- Marijuana-Small Amount Personal Use, Misdemeanor
- Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor (two counts)
- Reckless Driving, Summary
- Driving Without A License, Summary
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 20, with Judge Inzana presiding.
