Mary Frances (Gregg) Ellis

Mary Frances (Gregg) Ellis, age 82, of Millstone Twp., PA, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017, in the comfort of her home, with her loving family by her side.

Mary was born on January 1, 1935, to the late John E. and Elizabeth H. (Leslie) Gregg, in Hallton, PA.

She was married on October 25, 1958, to Eugene H. Ellis in Brookville, PA; Eugene survives her.

Mary attended the Belltown Schools.

She spent her life taking care of others, and she was proud to be a homemaker. Taking care of the family meant more than staying in the house all day cooking and cleaning, she would work side by side with Eugene bailing hay in the fields, and when her children were young she sewed clothes for them to wear.

She was very concerned about her friends and neighbors; to her, that meant everyone she knew. Her willingness to help social organizations, her beautiful outlook on life, and the genuine love she had for her community and its members, caused her to be loved by all who knew her. She had a very strong faith in the Lord and she attended church faithfully until she could no longer make the trip.

When her mobility decreased, she would worship by watching the various religious organizations of television. She yearned for knowledge both spiritually and temporally; she loved to learn. Her curiosity caused her to spend as much time as was needed to research a topic of interest until she understood it.

She had a love for unique rocks and emeralds.

She enjoyed frequenting flee-markets, yard sales, and antique shops; she collected a variety of things.

Mary loved to sing, bake, and she has a beautiful soul, “She left tracks on your heart.”

Mary loved her life, she worked hard for and with her family, the Gospel guided her during her 82 years, and she will be missed.

In addition to her husband Eugene, Mary is survived by 1 son; Danny E. Ellis of Millstone Twp., PA; 2 daughters; Kathleen E. (the late Michael) Lee of Cincinnati, OH; Sharon E. (Jeffrey) Thompson of Hallton, PA; 2 grandchildren; Jennifer M. (TJ) Cook, Andrew M. (Laura) Lee; and 2 great-grandchildren; Christian Michael-Theodore Cook, and Tucker Michael Lee.

In addition to her parents and son-in-law, Mary is preceded in death by 4 brothers; 5 sisters; 3 sisters-in-law; 6 brothers-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

Mary’s family held a private service that honored her in the way in which she had designated.

She was laid to rest at Lakelawn Memorial Park in Winslow Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.

Her funeral arrangements were entrusted to the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825.

Those who wish to honor her memory may make memorial contributions to In Home Solutions Hospice, 298 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825.
