Marilouise “Mel” Michel, 56, of Clarion was born in New Orleans to the late Dr. Marshall L. and Nancy (Shaw) Michel. While she made home wherever she was, New Orleans was always in her heart.

Fittingly, a New Orleans-style procession followed the funeral.

She taught as Professor of Theater for 28 years at Clarion University of Pennsylvania serving as Department Chair from 2002 to 2008. She was also a teaching artist at Point Park University and Adjunct Instructor at Gannon University. She was a registered Yoga Instructor and a Certified Holistic Life Coach.

Her most cherished role though was that of mother. She was an exceptional and loving parent to Emily Nancy Michel Powers and Marshall Edward Michel Powers both of Clarion. She is also survived by her brother, Marshal L. Michel of Germany and sister, Helen Michel of Pensacola, Fla.
