Mildred V. “Millie” Patterson, 101, Punxsutawney, died Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at Punxsutawney Area Hospital.
She was born on February 22, 1917, in Big Run, PA, a daughter of the late Roseanna Wachob.
On August 20, 1934, she married Russel R. Patterson in Little Valley, NY. He preceded her in death on May 2, 1986.
Millie was a seventy-five-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. in Big Run and the Big Run Christian Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Carol Ann Rankin and husband William of East Aurora, NY, and Kay Smith and husband Larry of Port Orange, FL. Locally, Millie is survived by her granddaughter Christine Klingensmith and husband Bruce of Anita, two great-grandchildren, Kayla Means and husband Derek and Kyle Hartzfeld, as well as one sister, Anna Bell Wazelle, all of Punxsutawney. Additionally, Millie has three grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and mother, she was preceded in death by an infant son, four brothers, Bill, Bob, Delvin, and Don Kerr, and a sister Rosabell Barrett.
Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m.to 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 15, 2018, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 1:00 p.m., with Joe Buterbaugh officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Big Run.
