kristen heroldBUTLER CO., Pa. (EYT) – The mother of a man suspected of murdering a four-year-old boy in Butler County has been charged with child endangerment and related offense.

According to online court documents, 43-year-old Kristen Herold, of Wexford, was charged Friday morning with two felonies and two misdemeanors.

The charges include:

– Hindering Apprehension/Prosecution-Providing Aid, Felony 3

– Hindering Apprehension/Prosecution-Providing False Information Law Enforcement Officer, Felony 3

– Endangering Welfare of Children-Parent/Guardian/Other Commits Offense, Misdemeanor 1

– Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Misdemeanor 2

Herold’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 30.

She is lodged in the Butler County Jail on $200,000.00 monetary bail.

The charges stem from an incident Tuesday.

Herold, the mother of Keith (Jordan) Lambing, was taking four-year-old Bentley Miller to the hospital Monday morning after he called her and said the child needed medical attention.

Herold was driving Bentley to the hospital when he lost consciousness on Tuesday morning. She pulled into a parking lot where paramedics and police responded.

Paramedics performed CPR on Bentley before taking him to the hospital where he later died.

The Butler County Coroner’s office ruled Bentley’s death a homicide after an autopsy was performed Tuesday. He had cuts and bruises on his body.

Lambing was later found hiding with his mother, Herold.

According to Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger, Lambing and the child’s mother, Mackenzie Peters, were staying at a Super 8 Motel with their four-month-old infant at the time of the four-year-old child’s death.

Goldinger said that the mother was at work, and Lambing was watching the child. He added that the boy’s mother was interviewed and is not believed to be responsible for her son’s death.

The four-month-old infant is in the custody of Butler County Children, Youth, and Family Services.

Although charges have not been filed against Lambing, he will be charged with one count of criminal homicide in connection with the boy’s death, according to D.A. Goldinger.
