Motorcycle Slams into Amish Buggy in Banks Township; Two Injured

A moving ambulance on it''s way to a crash site.BANKS TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say two Rossiter residents were hospitalized after a motorcycle crashed into an Amish Buggy around 6:20 p.m. on October 6, in Banks Township, Indiana County.

According to police, the crash occurred as David L. Moore Jr., 31, of Rossiter, was traveling west on Hillman Road, near Brooks Farm Road, on a 1983 Honda V45 Magna motorcycle, and an Amish Buggy operated by David A. Hostetler, 24, of Rossiter. was traveling east on Hillman Road.

Moore failed to negotiate a right hand curve in the wet roadway, losing control of his motorcycle. It traveled across the center line, and the front wheel portion of the motorcycle impacted with the left front buggy wheel, police say.

Following impact, Moore’s motorcycle slid on its side for approximately 18 feet, before coming to a final rest in the eastbound travel lane on Hillman Road.

Moore and his passenger, Ivy L. Shultz, 21, of Rossiter, both sustained moderate injuries in the crash and were transported to Punxsutawney Hospital by Jefferson County EMS.

Neither Moore nor Shultz were wearing helmets.

Hostetler and his passenger, Rebecca E. Hostetler, 20, of Rossiter, were both uninjured in the crash.

Moore was charged with a traffic violation.

The Honda V45 Magna was towed from the scene by Brosius Towing.

Punxsutawney PSP was assisted at the scene by the Rossiter VFD.
