One Injured in I-80 Crash in Brookville Borough

BROOKVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – One person was injured in a two-vehicle traffic accident Thursday evening on Interstate 80 near Brookville.

According to DuBois-based State Police, around 6:23 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 23-year-old Willie Gibson, of Maple Heights, Ohio, was driving a 2011 Kia Optima west in the left lane on I-80 near mile marker 80 when it struck a 2013 Volvo driven by 23-year-old Yuriy Havrylyuk, of Chicago, Illinois.

Police say Gibson was traveling too fast for the conditions and didn’t stop in time.

Gibson, and two passengers in his vehicle – Conicia Hardy, 44, of Maple Heights, Ohio, and a 17-year-old female – were all using seat belts.

Gibson suffered suspected minor injuries.

Neither passenger was injured.

Havrylyuk was also using a seat belt and wasn’t injured.

Gibson was charged with a traffic violation.

Brookville Ambulance assisted Trooper Michael D’Andrea at the scene, as well as Troopers Nick Jordan and Dylan Himes and Corporal Arnold Stutsman.

McPherson Towing removed the Optima from the scene.
