Player Profile: Matt Miller, DuBois


D9Sports.com and EYT Media are doing a series of player profiles on returning high-school athletes this summer. The year in school listed by the athlete is the year the athlete is entering this fall.

MATT MILLER – SENIOR – DUBOIS

Son of: Chris & Jamie Miller

Sports Played: Football, Basketball, Baseball

2016-17 Highlights: Despite missing the first four games with an injury, Matt still led District 9 with 2,506 passing yards while tossing 21 touchdowns and adding a rushing touchdown. He enters his senior year with 6,126 career passing yards and 53 touchdowns in just two seasons.

Post-High School Goals: Matt would like to continue to try and play football at the next level.

Q&A With Matt Miller

D9Sports: What is your favorite sport to participate in?
MM: Football, there’s nothing better than friday night lights. Nothing can even come close.

D9: What is your favorite memory, moment, game from playing high school sports?
MM: My favorite moment and memory was the DuBois vs. Meadville game my sophomore year. The game got national publicity and records were broken by both teams.

D9: Why do you play high school sports?
MM: The competition and just being around a good group of friends at all times. it’s an awesome feeling when you achieve a goal as a team.

D9: Is there a high school player on your team or another team that you enjoy watching play? If so, why?
MM: Journey Brown (Meadville). He is one of the fastest kids I’ve seen, and he’s a small town kid going to play for PSU. You have to respect that.

D9: When not playing sports I would rather (pick one) – Go to work, play video games, shop, hang out with friends, play pickup sports, go the movies
MM: I love playing pickup basketball.

D9: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
MM: The Bahamas. It’s beautiful there.

D9: Who has had the most influence on you as a person?
MM: My dad. My dad never lets me give up, and he pushes me to be the best person I can be. I wouldn’t be where I am without him.

D9: What do you like most about growing up in your hometown?
MM: It’s a smaller town, so you are close with a lot of people.

D9: What do you wish you could change about growing up in your hometown?
MM: I wish people would root for people being successful, not tear them down.

D9: What question do you wish I would have asked you? And what is the answer to it?
MM: Not too sure. What is my favorite hobby, maybe? I love fishing when I’m not playing sports.

D9: Do you or have you had any siblings or other immediate relatives who have played high school sports?
MM: None that played high school sports.
