Coalport Man Injured in Bell Township Rollover Crash

BELL TWP., Pa.(EYT) – A Coalport man was hospitalized after a one-vehicle crash Saturday.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, around 3:40 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 46-year-old Tommy L. Witherow, of Coalport, was driving a 1979 Ragera north on Route 219 at a high rate of speed. His vehicle crossed the road, hit an embankment, spun 180 degrees and flipped onto the driver’s side.

Police say Witherow fled the scene and was found nearby in a cornfield.

According to police, Witherow was very intoxicated and had lacerations and trauma to his head.

He was flown to Altoona Regional Hospital by STAT MedEvac helicopter for injuries of unknown severity.

PSP Punxsutawney are continuing the investigation into this crash.
