Punxsutawney Grad Sloniger Leads Penn State Baseball in Hitting


UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. (D9Sports) – Punxsutawney graduate Ryan Sloniger leads Penn State in hitting through Thursday.

Sloniger, a junior catcher, is hitting .288 for the Nittany Lions with a team-high 21 RBIs. He has hit three home runs, eight doubles and a triple while walking 17 times. He has an on-base percentage of .388.

Fellow Punxsutawney graduate Braxton Giavedoni is also in the starting lineup for the Nittany Lions. The outfielder is hitting .231 with three doubles, three home runs and a triple with six RBIs.

KEMMER HAS THREE HOME RUNS FOR FRESNO

Clarion graduate Jon Kemmer is off to a bit of a slow start at the plate for the Class Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies hitting .213 going into action Thursday with three home runs, a double and nine RBIs.

PETERSON RAKING FOR WHITECAPS

Johnsonburg graduate Cole Peterson is raking for the West Michigan Whitecaps of Low-Class A Midwest League hitting .356 with a double, a triple and four RBIs. He has also stolen four bases.
