Punxsutawney Major League Little League Team in Section 1 Tournament


PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (EYT) – After winning the District 10 Major League (12-and-under) Little League Championship by beating DuBois, Punxsutawney is set for the Section One Tournament that beings Saturday in Meadville.

The Punxsutawney Nine will take on the host, Meadville/Vernon, at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the first round.

The other half of the double-elimination, four-team bracket has Clarion taking on MYAA (Millcreek) at 6 p.m.

The winners of those games will then play Sunday at 6 p.m. in the winner’s bracket with the losers’ playing at 3 p.m. elimination game Sunday.

The winner of Sunday’s elimination game will then take on the loser of Sunday’s winner’s bracket game at 8:30 p.m. Monday with the winner of that game taking on the winner of Sunday’s winner’s bracket game at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. If the team coming out of the loser’s bracket wins Tuesday’s contest then a winner-take-all game for the right to go to the state tournament will be held at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The winner of the Section 1 Tournament advances to the Pennsylvania Championship Tournament in Berwick July 22-29.
