Punxsy Home Destroyed by Fire

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (EYT) — No one was injured in a house fire Wednesday in Punxsutawney.

According to wjactv.com, Elk Run Fire Chief Doug Mcafoos said the home is a total loss.

One dog died in the fire.

The fire chief said the homeowner has had electrical problems inside the house.

A state police fire marshal is investigating and the Red Cross is assisting the family.

According to Jefferson County 911, six area fire departments responded to a residential fire on Pine Street. The call came in Wednesday at 12:03 p.m.

All three Punxsutawney Volunteer Fire Department companies responded, including Central, Elk Run and Lindsey.

Also, volunteer fire departments from Big Run, McCalmont Township and Sykesville also responded. The Punxsutawney Police Department was also at the scene.
