Robert M. “Bob” Berty

Robert M. “Bob” Berty, 81, of Robinson, IL passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN, following many months of declining health.

Born October 30, 1936, in DuBois, PA he was the son of Maurice E. and Marie (Wiser) Berty. On June 25, 1960, he married Jeanette L. (Butler) and she survives.

Mr. Berty was the Broker and Co-Owner of Weber Insurance and Realty in Robinson, IL since the mid-1960’s. He was a member and office holder of many organizations and was most proud of helping Crawford County obtain The Rides Mass Transit program; working with Ameren IL to secure electrical aggregation for Crawford County Residents and during his years of community service served as chair of the Enterprise Zone committee, ultimately bringing the Enterprise Zone to Robinson and parts of Crawford County. Bob served on the Robinson City Council from 1975 thru 1987, serving as Mayor Pro-tem in 1980; Bob was a 30 year member of and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of First United Methodist Church, Robinson; was a board member and Chairman of the First National Bank now Regions Bank; was a member and Past President of Quail Creek Country Club; was a member of and Executive Director of the Crawford County Development Association; was instrumental in the re-organization of and the formation of the Crawford County Airport Authority. Above and beyond all of his business and community accomplishments, Bob was a true gentleman, considerate of all persons around him and helpful to others almost to a fault.

Bob is survived by his wife, Jeanette L. Berty, Robinson, IL; son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Nancy Berty, Robinson, IL; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Dr. Robin Wetherell, Vienna, IL; four grandchildren, Dr. Kristen and Bryce Whitworth, St. Joseph, MI, Alex Berty, Robinson, IL, Nick Berty, Mishawauka, IN and fiancée Kinsey Fear, Carbondale, IL, Meredith Berty, Robinson, IL; sister, Donna (Berty) and Ken Miller, Port Charlotte, FL along with several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers-in-law, Richard Daugherty and Don Butler.

The funeral service will be Sunday, September 16, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Robinson, IL with Rev. Jay Regennitter officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, Robinson, IL. Burial will follow in the Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson, IL.
