Ruth Marie Ramsey

Born April 20, 1929, in DuBois, Pennsylvania, Ruth Marie died Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Munson Hospice House, Traverse City. She was 89 years old.

She was surrounded by her three children as well as in the hearts of their extended families. Ruth Marie passed away on what would have been her 68th wedding anniversary.

She resided at The Boardman Lake Glens in Traverse City, where she spent the last year and a half of her life.

The daughter of Merritt I. and Genevieve Miller Edner, Ruth Marie was the loving wife of the Rev. George W. Ramsey, pastor emeritus of the First Presbyterian Church of Farmington, Farmington Hills.

She is survived by one sister, Naomi Booth; two sisters-in-law, Edith Edner and Betty Jean Ramsey; children, Mark (Barbara Najjar) Ramsey, Jane (Bruce) Mullkoff and Kristin (Herb) Roth Jr.; grandchildren, Jason, Virginia, Kelly, Michael, Matthew and Andrew; and great-grandchildren, Eli, Wade, Claire and James.

She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Homer and Merritt Edner.

Ruth Marie was a graduate of DuBois High School, where she was crowned Miss DHS. She graduated from Grove City College in 1950, where she met her future husband.

She served a significant supporting role as a minister’s wife in New Waterford, Clarkston, and Warren, Ohio, before moving to Farmington Hills, where her husband served for 25 years. After George retired they moved to Treasure Lake in DuBois, Pennsylvania, and eventually settled at Henry Ford Village in Dearborn.

She enjoyed reading, movies, playing the piano and visiting family and friends. She was an avid Detroit Tiger and Michigan Wolverine fan.

A memorial service will be held at later date yet to be determined.
