Sara Olive Harp

Mrs. Sara Olive Harp, 92 of Summerville, passed away quietly at her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, April 19, 2018.

Olive was born on August 28, 1925 at her parent’s home in Worthville. She is a daughter of the late Ralph David and Ida Merle (Mauk) Kiehl. She married Wayne Lee Harp on January 27, 1948. Wayne preceded Sara in death on April 13, 2012.

Olive was a kind and gentle woman who had a zest for life. She loved her family and enjoyed being a mother and wife. Olive liked flowers of all sorts, playing cards, and watching the Steelers. She was also a huge Pirates fan. Olive and her husband Wayne enjoyed going to a myriad of different events together and was known for always saying, “That was the best program that I ever heard!” Olive worked at the Brookville Glove Factory for over 20 years as a material handler and supplier and was a member of the Ohl United Methodist Church. Olive was loved by so many and will most certainly be sorely missed.

Olive is survived by her son, Larry Harp and wife June of Worthville; her daughters, Judy Kennedy of Summerville and LuAnn Hetrick and husband Ken of Columbus, OH; and her daughter-in-law, Bev Harp of Sanford, N.C. Olive is also survived by nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Her grandchildren are, Jason Harp, Kelly Shaffer and husband Tom, Krista Dunbart and husband Tim, Travis Harp, Dan Kennedy and wife Mimi, Joshua and Andrew Harp, and Kayla and Stacia Hetrick.

In addition to her parents, Ralph and Ida Kiehl, and her husband Wayne, Olive was preceded in death by her son, Randy Harp; her two brothers, Grant and Ray Kiehl; and her three sisters, Hazel Lewis, Florence Kerner, and LaRue Barnett.

Friends will be received at the Ohl United Methodist Church in Ohl on Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m. with a funeral service immediately following at 2:00 p.m. at the church officiated by Pastor Linda Chambers. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Shumaker Funeral Home Inc. of Punxsutawney.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Harp’s memory can be made to the Ohl United Methodist Church, 3229 Heathville-Ohl Road, Summerville, PA 15864.
