UDPATE: Jefferson County Man Charged with Theft of Firearm

MCCALMONT TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Punxsutawney man is facing theft charges stemming from an incident that occurred on Knox Dale Road, in McCalmont Township, Jefferson County.

According to court documents, criminal charges were filed against 36-year-old Richard Wayne Dicello, of Punxsutawney.

According to a criminal complaint, around 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, Punxsutawney-based State Police were dispatched to a residence on Knox Dale Road in Punxsutawney for a report of a stolen gun. The victim reported that his Henry lever action .22 LR rifle was missing from his residence. He advised police that he suspected Richard Dicello of stealing the rifle.

Around 4:45 p.m., police interviewed Dicello, who allegedly admitted that he stole the gun and subsequently sold it in the parking lot of the Dollar General Store in Big Run for approximately $50.00 to $75.00.

Dicello stated, “I did it because I needed the money.” and that the theft and sale occurred, “a few months ago,” according to the complaint.

Dicello was arraigned on Saturday, January 13, on the following charges:

-Theft by Unlawful Taking – Moveable Property, Felony 2
-Receiving Stolen Property, Felony 2

Unable to post $35,000.00 cash bail, Dicello was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 25, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. with Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock presiding.

Dicello also faces a preliminary hearing at 10:30 a.m. on February 27 for a Misdemeanor charge of Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia from an incident that occurred in December.
