Amish Buggy DUI: Five Facing Alcohol-Related Charges in Rossiter

shutterstock_2950012CANOE TWP., INDIANA CO., Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police reported an underage DUI incident involving five Amish men on July 8, in the Village of Rossiter in Canoe Township, Indiana County.

According to police, around 11:01 p.m. on July 8, State Police stopped an Amish Buggy for a safety issue at the intersection of Sunset and First Streets in the Village of Rossiter.

Police say they observed the buggy on the roadway transporting two males subjects on the roof.

Upon making contact with the five male subjects in the buggy, police discovered that they were all under the age of 21 and had consumed alcoholic beverages. The subjects were also reportedly found to be in possession of alcoholic beverages.

The operator, 18-year-old Robert A. Miller was subsequently arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.

The four passengers, 20-year-old Andrew D. Coblentz, 18-year-old William W. Byler, 20-year-old Raymond E. Kurtz, and a 16-year-old known juvenile, were cited for violating PACC 6308(a) “Purchase, Consumption, Possession or Transportation of Liquor or Malt or Brewed Beverages.”
