UPDATE: DuBois City Police Officer One of Two Men Killed in Jefferson Co. Accident

WASHINGTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A DuBois City Police Officer was one of two men killed in a crash Monday night on Route 219, in Washington Township, Jefferson County.

According to DuBois-based State Police, 33-year-old Patrick Charles Straub, of Kersey, and 32-year-old Corey Alan Williams, of Reynoldsville, were involved in the collision.

Police say around 7:10 p.m. on Monday, September 17, Williams was traveling south on State Route 219, just south of Brubaker Road, in Washington Township. He lost control of his 1997 Jeep Cherokee and traveled into the northbound lane of Route 219 striking Straub’s 2015 Toyota 4 Runner that was traveling north on Route 219.

Williams and Straub died on the scene as a result of their injuries, according to police.

The passengers of the Toyota – a 34-year-old woman and a young girl, both of Kersey – were transported to Penn Highlands for treatment of minor injuries.

Straub was a 5-year veteran with the DuBois City Police Department.

DuBois City Police Department issued the following statement on their Facebook page: “It is with heartfelt sadness that the DuBois City Police Department announces that one of our own, Officer Patrick Straub, a 5 year veteran, has succumbed to injuries due to a motor vehicle crash, while off duty, on the evening of September 17th. He is survived by his wife and 3 year old daughter. ‘Strauby’ will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Our condolences to his family and we ask that you please pray for Pat and his family.”

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced soon.
