Victim Admits to Shooting Himself, Lied About Drive-By Shooting

investigationPINECREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say a man who claimed he was the victim of a drive-by shooting now admits he shot himself.

The 64-year-old man – whose name has not been released – was shot in the left hand on October 16 around 1:50 p.m.

The man initially told police that he was walking along Sulgar Road in Pinecreek Township when he observed a side-by-side utility vehicle traveling from one side of the road to the other.

He told police that two white males in the side-by-side fired multiple shots as the vehicle drove by. The man alleged that one of the shots struck his left hand.

On Monday, the man was again interviewed by police, and he admitted to accidentally shooting himself.

He was treated for minor injuries on the day of shooting.

Police did not release his identity.
