JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (EYT) – A Flood Watch continues for Jefferson County and surrounding areas.

The National Weather Service of Pittsburgh issued the following Flood Watch at 5:23 a.m. on Sunday, February 25, 2018:

…FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING…

The Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of western Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, including the following areas, in western Maryland, Garrett.

In Pennsylvania, Allegheny, Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Fayette, Fayette Ridges, Forest, Greene, Indiana, Jefferson, Washington, Westmoreland, and Westmoreland Ridges.

In West Virginia, Brooke, Eastern Preston, Eastern Tucker, Marion, Marshall, Monongalia, Ohio, Preston, Ridges of Eastern Monongalia and Northwestern Preston, Western Tucker, and Wetzel.

* Through this evening

* Additional rainfall of up to one-half inch is expected ahead of a frontal passage.

* The ground is very saturated and water levels in local streams remain high.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
