Winners Announced in Sawmill Center Woodcarving Competition

COOKSBURG, Pa. (EYT) – The Sawmill Center for the Arts has announced the winners of its woodcarving competition.

Janet Ellis, of Butler, won Best of Show with “Sharing the Love.” She is pictured in the photo above, on the right, with Christine Hendryx, Program Director at the Sawmill Center.

Rich Waltz-People's ChoiceRichard Waltz, of Leechburg, pictured above, claimed the People’s Choice award with “Eagle Scout.” The piece was also second in Best of Show voting.

Walter Finger sawmill center woodcarvingWalter Finger, of Youngstown, Ohio, pictured above, placed third in Best of Show with “Spring.”

Dave Fair, of Kittanning, had Best of Theme with his “Bear eating a fish” carving.

According to Hendryx, the attendance was outstanding for the show.

“We had a great crowd and everyone was ‘wowed’ at the carvings that were done,” Hendryx said.
