Slippery Road Conditions Cause Rollover Crash in Union Township

UNION TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A woman was rushed to Penn Highlands on Sunday night following a crash on Interstate 80 in Union Township.

According to DuBois-based State Police, around 7:51 p.m. on Sunday, February 10, 34-year-old Miranda L. Oquendo, of Bellefonte, PA, was operating a 2008 Volkswagen Jetta, traveling east on Interstate 80 near the 77-mile marker in Union Township, Jefferson County.

Police say Oquendo’s vehicle was traveling straight when it encountered extremely slippery road conditions due to snow and began to fishtail. The vehicle then exited the southern portion of the road and rotated clockwise before overturning and hitting a tree to the south of the roadway.

Oquendo was wearing a seatbelt. She was transported to Penn Highlands Brookville by Jefferson County EMS for treatment of minor injuries.

The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene.

Pine Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
