HENDERSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Punxsutawney-based State Police say around 9:16 p.m. on March 20, a one-vehicle crash occurred on US 119, south of West Main Street, in Henderson Township, Jefferson County.
According to police, 19-year-old Richard W. DeJohn, of Sykesville, was traveling south on Route 119, and while negotiating a right curve in the roadway, the steering system went out on his 2001 Dodge Ram 1500.
The vehicle traveled into the northern lane, spun partially, exited the roadway, and struck the guard rail with the right front portion of the vehicle, police say.
The vehicle came to a final rest facing northeast, according to police.
DeJohn was not injured; he was using a seat belt.
A 16-year-old male passenger in the vehicle suffered minor injuries. He was not using a seat belt.
The vehicle sustained minor damage to the right front portion of the vehicle and was towed from the scene.
Big Run Fire Department assisted at the scene.
