Harry S. Bhe

Harry S. Bhe, 91, Big Run, died Wednesday February 22, 2017, at DuBois Nursing Home in DuBois.

He was born November 13, 1925, in Punxsutawney, a son of the late Esther (Stigers) and Harry E. Bhe.

On June 8, 1946, he married Betty Jane Green, who preceded him in death on July 20, 1982. He then married Susan M. Mayo on December 4, 1984, who also preceded him in death on October 20, 2002.

He was a graduate of the Punxsutawney Area High School Class of 1946.

Harry served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946.

He was a member of St. Phillips Methodist Church of Big Run and enjoyed bowling and golfing.

He retired from the B & O Railroad in 1985 after 40 years as a Chief train dispatcher and division operator. He served as a policeman in Big Run for 12 years. He also worked at the Jefferson County Courthouse as a Tip Staff for 17 years. He served as secretary for the Punxsutawney Bowling Association for 25 years. He was a former member of the Big Run Area Volunteer Fire Company and served as Chief for two years.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion of Punxsutawney, VFW of Big Run, Moose, Eagles, Elks, John W. Jenks Masonic Lodge, Coudersport Consistory, Jaffa Shrine, Jefferson County Shrine Club, Jaffa ATC Unit, and Jaffa Royal Order of Jesters.

Surviving relatives include three daughters, Barbara Young and husband Ronald of Punxsutawney, Joyce Evans and Charles Schaffer of Punxsutawney, and Roxanne Frantz of Brooksville, FL; eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and a brother, Robert Bhe of Polk, PA.

In addition to his wives and parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son Harry.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2017, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney. A masonic service will be held at 7 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2017, at the funeral home with Pastor Carole J. Bergman officiating.

Interment will be in Bowers Cemetery, Punxsutawney.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in memory of Harry to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505.
