Child Endangerment Charges Filed Against Woman Who Threw Bottle at Man Holding Baby

BROOKVILLE BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – A Brookville woman is facing a child endangerment charge after she allegedly threw a bottle at a man while he was holding an infant.

Court documents indicate the Brookville Borough Police Department filed criminal charges against 31-year-old Erica Noel Harriger.

According to a criminal complaint, around 4:42 p.m. on September 19, Brookville Borough Police responded to a residence on Hawthorne Street in Brookville for a report of a domestic dispute in progress.

At the scene, police spoke to a known male victim who reported that he and Erica Harriger were arguing when she threw a bottle at him while he was holding an infant.

The victim had recorded the incident on his cell phone, the complaint notes.

Police then spoke with Harriger about the incident.

She reportedly said that she and the victim had been arguing, and she had walked away and went upstairs. She told police the victim followed her and started recording her and said she then “lost her temper” and threw a plastic bottle at him, but missed, the complaint states.

Harriger admitted the victim was holding the infant in his left arm when she threw the bottle at him and said she “messed up,” according to the complaint.

Police then observed the video recording of the incident.

In the video, Harriger was yelling at the victim from the top of the stairs while the victim stood at the bottom of the stairs, and Harriger then threw the bottle, which struck the wall to the left of the victim, in close proximity to him. In the video, the victim then stated that she nearly hit the baby, the complaint indicates.

Police also recovered the “bottle” that was thrown, which was a 16-ounce hard plastic container that was more than three-quarters full. Police also found a mark on the wall where the container struck it, the complaint notes.

A first-degree misdemeanor count of child endangerment was filed against Harriger through Magisterial District Judge Gregory M. Bazylak’s office on September 21.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. on November 3, with Judge Bazylak presiding.
