Punxsy Man Charged in New Year’s Eve Sexual Assault

PUNXSUTAWNEY BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – A Punxsutawney man is facing indecent assault charges stemming from an incident that occurred on New Year’s Eve.

According to court documents, on May 7, the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department filed criminal charges in Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline J. Mizerock’s office, against 19-year-old Robbi Lee Reitz Jr.

A known victim arrived at the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department around 1:32 p.m. on May 6 to file a report regarding a sexual assault, according to a criminal complaint.

The victim reported she had been staying at a residence for New Year’s Eve when the incident occurred. She said she was alone downstairs and had fallen asleep in the early morning hours of January 1, when she was awakened by Robbi Lee Reitz Jr. around 5:00 a.m.

According to the complaint, the victim reported she felt Reitz rubbing her through her pants and said he then pressed his fingers into her genital area, and she attempted to push him away. The victim said she was unable to break free and began to cry when he attempted to continue assaulting her.

When he stopped, she ran upstairs to a bathroom and locked the door, the complaint indicates.

According to the complaint, the victim said that she called Reitz to try to discuss what he had done to her, but he refused to talk to her about it.

The following charges were filed in Judge Mizerock’s office:

– Indecent Assault Forcible Compulsion, Misdemeanor 1
– Indecent Assault Without Consent Of Other, Misdemeanor 2
– Disorderly Conduct Hazardous/Physical Offense, Misdemeanor 3
– Harassment – Course of Conduct With No Legitimate Purpose, Summary

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on June 11, with Judge Mizerock presiding.
